Tending the garden

November 9-14, 2020

Created and curated by Trauma Specialist Jimanekia Eborn, this retreat is for femmes of color who have experienced – and survived – sexual assault.

This retreat honors a group of femmes who are constantly pushed to the side, overlooked, and over-sexualized by supporting them in their healing.

Jimanekia Eborn

Founder of Trauma Queen

Jimanekia Eborn is a Comprehensive Sex Educator and Sexual Assault & Trauma Expert. She is the host of Trauma Queen – a podcast mini-series for survivors of assault and their allies.

As an expert in her field and as a survivor herself, she also knows firsthand the importance of finding healing and community when it comes time to process your trauma.

Femmes of color are disproportionately impacted by sexual violence – and the few that do report their assault or seek help are often ignored, invalidated, or dismissed. There is a lack of resources in support of femmes of color and the systems that do exist leave their patients further emotionally exhausted & wounded.

We need effective & compassionate care from teachers who understand our experiences & our needs

Ev’Yan Whitney

~Body Forgiveness Track~

Ev’Yan, sexuality doula & sensual educator, will be gently guiding you to connect to your body with lessons where you’ll be listening & feeling into your senses. We’ll be exploring what it feels like to be soft with ourselves through movement, ritual & intention, & we’ll be creating new stories we have about our self-image – how we see ourselves & how the world sees us. Throughout this exploration of body connectedness, we’ll be holding space for ourselves & each other as we process what comes up in the tender & fun space of body forgiveness, pleasure, & celebration.

Thea Monyée

~Mental Health Track~

Thea’s work is designed to deconstruct pain-centered trauma narratives, collectively challenge & repair harmful beliefs rooted in pain-centered trauma narrative, & identify joy-centered healing opportunities, past-present-future, that will allow you to integrate all lived experiences into the life you are creating. Thea will employ decolonized psychotherapy, afro-spirituality, Tantric principles, & Chakra work into the curriculum.

Cindy Lee Alves

~Sexual Education Track~

Our time together will be spent deepening our understanding of sex & sexuality. We will explore ways to (re)-connect with your bodies as sources of joy, empower you to center your own fantasies/desires, & curate pleasurable experiences of your own design.

~On-Site Healer~

Jordi will provide private healing energy sessions to support the evolution of self throughout the retreat. We will incorporate energy clearing, energetic body adjustment, energetic charging & informative recommendations to tune into our intuitive selves & process our emotions, growth, & trauma. Readings & healing may also include Sound Clearing, Smudging, Card Pulls, & Body Scans.

Jessamyn Stanley

~On-Site Yogi~

Every morning, we’ll ground our day with a yoga practice that will facilitate a reclamation of the fearless spirit within. We will center breathwork & meditation in addition to a fast paced & sweaty postural flow. Classes will challenge everything we’ve been taught to believe about how our mind, body, & spirit link together. Wear your humility on your sleeve & leave all preconceived notions at the door- if you can find a smile, breathe, & laugh at yourself, this is the practice for you.

Dr. Toni Stewart

~On-Site Therapist~

We will be working together to gain control over your life & redirect your journey. Dr. Toni will be offering trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy to ease your anxiety, offer clarity & provide support during your healing process.
