Schuyler Bailar (he/him) is a trail-blazing athlete, author, educator, and outspoken advocate for transgender inclusion, mental-health awareness, and body acceptance.
He made history as the first openly transgender athlete to compete on a Division I men’s team in any NCAA sport — swimming on the men’s team for Harvard University after having been recruited originally for the women’s team.
Schuyler graduated from Harvard in 2019 with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology.
Since then, he’s dedicated his platform to advocacy, education and empowerment. He runs a gender-literacy and inclusion company LaneChanger, delivers talks and DEI workshops, and works broadly to support trans rights, mental health, and social justice.
He’s also a published author: He/She/They: How We Talk About Gender and Why It Matters (2023) — a critically acclaimed nonfiction work on gender, identity, inclusion and language.
